Vertical search engines retrieve data that is publicly available on
the Web but cannot be reliably crawled and ranked by traditional
horizontal search engines because it is only reachable by submitting
Web forms. Thousands of vertical search engines have been created over
the last few years, but it is difficult for users to find them.
The latest version of Noflail Search, released on June 10, 2010 has
added a Search Engines panel that contains a list of vertical and
horizontal search engines. You can use the list to discover search
engines, and you can run the same query on different search engines by
clicking on their entries in the panel. Noflail Search is available

A short short video
tutorial is hosted on YouTube.
The list of search engines in Noflai Search is organized using
self-explanatory tags, and displayed hierarchically. Noflail Search
uses a novel method of browsing hierarchical data, described in the
following white paper:
Noflail Search has several unique features. It lets you interleave
the browsing of multiple result sets to solve difficult search
problems, and it provides cooperative
responses to queries that produce no results.
The following white paper has background information on cooperative
responses:
and the following technical report describes and analyzes the algorithm used
by Noflail Search to compute cooperative responses:
